Bus Travel Between the Lehigh Valley and New York City Gets Temporarily Cheaper

For residents of the Lehigh Valley planning travel to New York City this winter, a seasonal fare reduction is making long-distance bus travel more affordable. Trans-Bridge Lines, a regional motorcoach carrier that has connected Pennsylvania communities with New York for decades, announced a limited-time promotional fare of $39.95 for one-way adult tickets on select routes to New York City. This special pricing is available through January 4, 2026, and applies to certain departures and designated stops between the Lehigh Valley and various points in New York. Seats at the discounted rate are limited and sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

The reduced fare applies across a number of common departure points in the region, including Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, the Lehigh Valley International Airport, the William Penn Highway Park & Ride, and other popular park-and-ride locations. Riders interested in securing the $39.95 fare are encouraged to book early online through Trans-Bridge’s website, where schedules, eligible runs, and booking options are available.

A Longstanding Service with Holiday Appeal

Trans-Bridge Lines has been serving the Lehigh Valley region for more than 80 years, offering daily buses to New York locations such as the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Lower Manhattan, and other key urban destinations. The company’s service is valued both by commuters and leisure travelers seeking a reliable alternative to driving. In announcing the discounted holiday fares, Trans-Bridge highlighted the value of comfortable, direct journeys with onboard amenities and a predictable travel schedule.

The seasonal discount aims to make regional bus travel more attractive during a period when many people visit family, attend events, or explore city offerings during the winter holidays. The promotion also helps support local tourism and economic activity by encouraging travel between Pennsylvania and New York without the higher costs often associated with trains or personal vehicle travel.

Broader Options for Regional Bus Travelers

While the Trans-Bridge promotion stands out for its holiday focus and direct connection to New York City, other intercity bus services remain available from the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas. Carriers such as Greyhound and FlixBus offer additional daily connections between Allentown and New York, with base one-way fares that can be relatively affordable when booked in advance, plus onboard amenities like free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and luggage options.
These services collectively highlight the role of intercity buses in the region’s transportation mix, offering alternatives to personal car travel and providing connections for commuters, students, and travelers who might otherwise face high parking, toll, or fuel costs.

    Travel Considerations and Availability

Despite the promotional pricing, potential travelers should note that fare availability is limited and subject to schedule restrictions. The reduced $39.95 fare applies only on select runs and designated stops, so planning ahead, especially for holiday weekend travel, is essential. Those unable to secure the promotional fare still have access to standard pricing and schedules for regular intercity service.

Overall, the fare promotion represents one of the more significant temporary cost reductions for long-distance bus travel out of the Lehigh Valley in recent months, reflecting the ongoing competition among carriers and consumer interest in affordable, flexible travel options around the holiday period.
